New treatment addressing irritability by targeting the gut to be trialled in Australia

This Nine News Australia segment discusses new research trialling a gut-based pharmaceutical intervention, which could help autistic teenagers experiencing high levels of irritability.

The study is being run across several sites in Australia, including CAN Research. The treatment under investigation aims to reduce the severity of challenges such as irritability by targeting the gut microbiome. In this clip, Adam discusses the importance of this research in increasing the options available to autistic youth and providing an effective treatment that does not cause significant side effects.
